Ready to rumble? Sure you are. Here are a few requirements for our Accelerated ENG 100 Workshop and our Best Practices/Assignment Sharing presentations. (Iʻll be sure to send out an additional email to remind you.)
Tues. 5.24 - ACCELERATED ENG 100 WORKSHOP
You must bring:
- Current syllabus for your Fall 2011 course.
- Be sure the syllabus includes Student Learning Outcomes to ensure alignment and completion.
- Bring class schedule so we can work on timing. The course schedule is very important to work on compressing assignments.
- If you donʻt have a syllabus or schedule because this is a new course for you, bring PLANS, IDEAS . . . lots of PLANS and IDEAS.
Wed. 5/25 - BEST PRACTICES/ASSIGNMENT SHARING
You must bring:
- One classroom practice or assignment you LOVE -- absolutely love -- that encourages student engagement, student success and/or just plain works.
- Youʻll have 10 minutes to share in the format of your choice.
- Tech Stuff: Unfortunately Manele 101 DOES NOT have an ELMO, but we will have a projector if youʻd like to use one. Iʻll bring my MacBook or you can use your laptop, but if you do, be sure to bring the necessary accoutrements. (Pretty fancy word, yeah?)
- Low Teach Stuff: If you plan on using handouts, bring 13 copies or if youʻd like me to do the copying, email the handouts to me - lkanae@hawaii.edu by Monday, May 23 4:00p.
The assignment I will be sharing requires the students watch a South Park episode (Season 14, Episode 4: "You Have 0 Friends").
ReplyDeleteI plan to only discuss the worksheet and why I like it (oh, and why I think it is engaging).
If you'd like to watch the episode for free:
